Received a “Makerbot Thing-O-Matic” FDM printer to work with facilitated by Miles Park to get started with working in 3D printing environment.
Experience so far:
When first receiving the printer it was in quite a poor condition and looked like it hadn’t been used in quite some time. Including: missing connection cord, rust broken power supply, clearly it need some work before it could be used. Some notes on the condition of the machine when first received:
- The machine had rust inside and out, the metal rods in particular were the worst.
- The screws holding the machine together were also extremely loose very surprised the machine was still standing.
- The “120mm Wide Kapton Tape” for the Heated Build Platform was also in a poor condition very scratch and melted.
- Machine had no spool holder and filament was all tangle and had started to take on a yellowish colour due to dust exposer.
- After further review, the power supply of the printer had blown and needed to be be replaced.
